Why you ask? Because once I finish school, get married, have kids, etc. there will be no time to do so. Therefore, I have to get as much I can in now before it’s all over. (yes growing up = all over)

This past weekend, Xiao and Peter visited San Antonio and if you have never been around us, you may not grasp the dynamics of the majority of our conversations. It is centered on a) chicks and b) games. We started to reminisce about the games we grew up on and somehow we ended up talking about GOAT arcade games. Of course, we mentioned Ninja Turtles, Simpsons, and X-Men in addition to some others that I will not get into. Before we knew it, Xiao installed an emulator on his laptop and we were playing X-Men on Xiao's laptop and eventually beat the game. Unfortunately, the entire game lasted only about twenty minutes. Fail.

I told them that when I was growing up, I had most of the consoles, but I only played sports games. I was all about NBA Live, Madden, NFL Blitz, Fifa, NHL Hockey, etc. Then in High School, I convinced my dad to buy me a really nice computer for “school purposes” but it was really for games such as Red Alert Command and Conquer, Age of Empires, Civilization, Simcity, Starcraft, and Counterstrike. However, I never got into RPGs such as Final Fantasy (except for Shenmue II on Xbox because of my younger brother). So when they started to talk about Final Fantasy (Hao included), I never felt so clueless and left out in my life.

I knew the Final Fantasy series was very popular, but I had no idea how passionate fans were about the game. I really had no idea what the game was about. In fact, I had never even seen what the game looked like until this past weekend. In a nutshell, there are two promises I have made to myself concerning extracurricular activities for the next few years.

1. Watch as many Lebron James basketball games as I possibly can. I did this with Michael Jordan for as long as I could remember and I feel sorry for those who didn’t because you had no idea what you were missing. In fact, those who can legitimately compare Kobe to Jordan are the people that never really watched Jordan. But, that discussion is for another time, another day. I am in no way saying Lebron James is the next Michael Jordan—I am simply stating that I do not want to miss watching the best basketball player of our era during his prime.

2. List of games I need to play in the next couple of years (in addition to the sports games)
-Final Fantasy 6 (emulator)
-Final Fantasy 7 (emulator)
-Final Fantasy 10 (emulator)
-Final Fantasy 13 (PS3)
-Uncharted II (PS3)
-Heavy Rain (PS3)
-Starcraft II (PC)

Nerd for life.

Albert Nguyen Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/alnguyen84
Albert Nguyen Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/alnguyen84
Albert Nguyen LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/alnguyen84
Albert Nguyen Yelp: http://alnguyen84.yelp.com

Make lots of memories and don't forget the joys of life.

Faith and trust in Him,
Albert Nguyen

Lots of 0's and 1's

The other day, the date was: 01.11.10 -- I thought that was pretty cool

I didn't make any resolutions this year. I guess just the normal... eat healthier, sleep more, smile more, pray more, and read more. What I do know is that I am trying to lose 5-10 pounds this semester, I lost 12 pounds the first semester, so a few more would be ideal. I really can't visually tell the difference though, I think those 12 pounds were all in my face, butt, chest, and shoulders. I want to lose some of my gut but I guess as long as I don't have a huge badonkadonk, I'm happy.

Anyways, I just got back from NEW YORK CITY last week. It was my first, but definitely not my last time to the big apple. I had never seen a downtown like that, I was in Chicago once, but I stayed in the suburbs and just drove by the skyline so I really didn't get to experience all the tall buildings.

Also, the guy on the left just got engaged. Congratulations to Johanna and Mark!

I thought school was really tough last semester, but I can foresee that there will be a lot more coursework during this one. Fortunately, I am a lot more efficient with my time and I know how to study for the exams... or I think I do.

As far as the Cowboys are concerned. I was not very upset, sad, depressed, mad, or anything like that when we lost to the Vikings. It took more than half of my life to finally win a playoff game, it would be asking too much to expect another win the very next week. Furthermore, I don't think we could have won on the road in Minnesota, then on the road in New Orleans, then on a neutral field in Miami anyways so it's better we lost when we did. We should be pretty good the next few years so I'm just going to enjoy it while it lasts... I know how bad it can get (Quincy Carter, Chad Hutchinson, Drew Henson...)

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="white-space: pre-wrap; What can I say, I am a man of my word. I said I would update once a month, so I'm going to update once a month! (I yelled this silently in my head).

I can't believe Thanksgiving has already come and gone... next thing you know, it'll be Christmas then after that, 2010.

Anyways, this may get a little emo/sad/depressing, but I guarantee I am doing just fine!

First of all, Thanksgiving is definitely my favorite holiday of the year. I mean, think about it--football, food, football, food comas, food, football, shopping, food, sleep, food, etc. What can get better than that? (especially those who know how much I love food, football, and food comas) However, the 2009 version of my Thanksgiving was by far the worst of my life. The only good thing that came out of this week was being able to walk around the apartment naked because Hao left for Dallas on Monday, but we'll go into that some other time. I've been at the library everyday this week, which I was planning on anyways so that's okay. On Wednesday night I decided, because it was Thanksgiving on Thursday, to leave the library at 2am instead of my usual 4am. That was pretty much the highlight of this wonderful holiday for me.

On the actual day of Thanksgiving, I got up early to go to the library to get some studying in before watching the Cowboys game. That worked out fine, however my glorious plan of going to Golden Corral for Thanksgiving dinner failed miserably. After the Cowboys game ended at 6, I called the restaurant just to see when they were closing; I literally felt my heart sank when they told me they had already closed at 4. So then I frantically called Luby's to see if they were still open, the lady that picked up answered with "we're actually closing in about 15 seconds." I don't know who the lady was but that was not what I wanted to hear, so I hung up on her (I pressed the end call button on my cell phone really hard). In a nutshell, I spent the actual day of Thanksgiving without consuming any food until 10pm. Guess what I made at 10? I made a sandwich that only included one slice of meat and cheese because we were out and everything was already closed. At least I used turkey breast right? Haha sigh...

Lucky for me, Hao said he's bringing Thanksgiving dinner back for me on Sunday Night. Thus, Thanksgiving will be on a Sunday for me this year. Thank you roomie =]

But seriously, how come I've a) never gone to Golden Corral before until about a month ago and b) never gone to Golden Corral for Thanksgiving? All you can eat turkey, stuffing, cranberry, gravy, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn on the cob, green bean casserole, rolls, all the different pies, cakes, and other desserts, etc. It's like having the ultimate get together for Thanksgiving (inviting your grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, second cousins, next door neighbors, ex girlfriends, the kid the down the street, you name it), but not having to clean, cook, or do anything before or after the meal. You just drive to the restaurant and eat as much as you want and try as much as you want, then drive back home. That sounds amazing to me. I am making a promise to the blogging world, I will eat at Golden Corral for Thanksgiving dinner in 2010.

Go Cowboys
Go Mavericks

Albert Nguyen Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/alnguyen84
Albert Nguyen Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/alnguyen84
Albert Nguyen LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/alnguyen84
Albert Nguyen Yelp: http://alnguyen84.yelp.com

Make lots of memories and don't forget the joys of life.

Faith and trust in Him,
Albert Nguyen

XXV

I can't believe that my 25th birthday is just around the corner. Looking back on it, where has all the time gone? I am feeling a little sad, excited, anxious, and scared all at the same time. I've met so many people and lived in so many different places; I am truly thankful for my family and the friends who have stayed with me through all of my phases throughout all those years haha. I will admit, I do go through a lot of phases...

After this weekend of fun in Austin and Lockhart (the best BBQ in the world), I'm going to have exactly a month before finals so I will be hiding away in the library until then. I have no Thanksgiving plans so if anyone would like to join me during my study sessions in San Antonio, please do! Take care =]

*edit
A little update on the crazy budgeting that I have been on recently:
10/12 - 10/16 = spent $0.00 (weekend = $40.00 for the TEXAS STATE FAIR)
10/19 - 10/23 = spent $2.17 (weekend = $7.00 for pho)
10/26 - 10/30 = spent $0.00 (weekend = ???)
This includes expenses for everything; food, gas, shopping, etc.

What the heck do I eat??
Breakfast - either cereal or nothing
Lunch - free PB & J that the law school provides everyday
Dinner - law school meetings that provide dinner, random stuff around the house (ramen noodles, dumplings, etc.), and frozen stuff Hao gets from his mom.

Go Cowboys
Go Mavericks

Albert Nguyen Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/alnguyen84
Albert Nguyen Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/alnguyen84
Albert Nguyen LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/alnguyen84
Albert Nguyen Yelp: http://alnguyen84.yelp.com

Make lots of memories and don't forget the joys of life.

Faith and trust in Him,
Albert Nguyen

The Road Less Traveled

nomad (noun)
1. A member of a group of people who have no fixed home and move according to the seasons from place to place in search of food, water, and grazing land.
2. A person with no fixed residence who roams about; a wanderer

So I was talking to my roommate the other night and he pretty much concluded that I love moving to different locales each year and that I would most likely transfer out of San Antonio at the end of my first year of law school--I thought he was just being silly, but this got me thinking. First of all, I drive a Toyota Corolla and there is already over 75,000 miles on it. Considering I bought this sucker brand spanking new off the lot during the summer of 2006, this equates out to be around 1,875 miles of driving a month. If you include the six round trips I've made between Texas and California, countless trips to and from Austin, Houston, and Dallas, I guess it all adds up. Also, I've bought three different mattress sets in the last three years haha. I constantly forget what my zip code is. So now I'm asking myself, am I ever going to slow down? Will I ever be able to stick in one place? Am I moving all the time because I want to or because I have to?

To help you see what I'm referring to, this is what happened after I graduated from Plano Senior High School:
Fall of 2003 - Moved to Arlington, TX
Summer of 2004 - Moved to Keller, TX
Summer of 2005 - Moved to Antioch, CA
Spring of 2006 - Moved to Brentwood, CA
Fall of 2006 - Moved to Concord, CA
Summer of 2007 - Moved to Irvine, CA
Fall of 2008 - Moved to Austin, TX
Fall of 2009 - Moved to San Antonio, TX

8 different homes in 6 years. I never really sat down and thought about it, but that seems pretty amazing to me. I guess if you are too close to the situation, you never see the entire picture. Honestly, I can tell you that I don't have any major regrets these last few years, sure I've made mistakes but I've enjoyed every step of the way. So... where does this leave me in the future? I DO want to settle down; I DO want a wife and kids; I DO want a nice house; I'm just taking the long way =]

Anyways, let's talk about how law school is going. During the first three weeks, the amount of work and reading completely shocked me. I knew going into the semester that there would be a lot of reading involved but I am the type of person that doesn't believe something until I see it for myself. Because of this, I was hit really hard and I was stressing every night because I wanted to be fully prepared each day for class. Fortunately, I've gotten used to the amount of reading and analysis that I have to do on a nightly basis so I don't get as stressed out anymore. I still spend the same amount of time in the library, but I've learned how to deal with the workload and the mental fatigue that comes along with it a lot better. Since Hao's school is just across the street from where we live, we head up to that library every night from dinner time until it closes (midnight), and those 4-5 hours are enough for me to get everything done for the next day. Ultimately, my usual day consists of about 5 to 6 hours on campus, then 4 to 5 hours at the library; so I still have about 5 hours to myself to relax and hang out, not including sleep. That is pretty much my routine so for those who see my gchat status as "studying", I really am studying lol.

I've met a few people at school that I talk to and eat with everyday. A couple of them went to UT, a couple of them are from California, and a couple of them were in the military. So, there's a good mixture of different backgrounds in our group which makes for some very interesting conversation. It's pretty crazy for me when I look around school and I see future lawyers that I'm going to be going up against, or future lawyers that I'm going to be partnering with in a particular case, or even future judges that will decide my cases. Three more years... just keep swimming... just keep swimming...

Rant:
Tony Romo is the most overrated superstar in the NFL during the last decade. A lot of the attention and aura that surrounds him is because he is the starting quarterback of America's team. To the media, he is a very charismatic guy. That part I completely understand, it's good for exposure and it's good for business. But, when a quarterback has a great game one week, then an average or terrible game the next--it's a glaring sign that he isn't that good. Consistency is what sets good players from great players. There's a reason why he wasn't recruited heavily out of high school, there's a reason why he wasn't drafted out of college, and there's a reason why he didn't play in his first NFL game until his 4th year in the league. With that being said, I love the Cowboys and I'm going to defend them until my last breath. I want Tony Romo to do well. I want him and the team to succeed. I want him to prove me wrong and lead us to #6.

Albert Nguyen Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/alnguyen84
Albert Nguyen Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/alnguyen84
Albert Nguyen LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/alnguyen84
Albert Nguyen Yelp: http://alnguyen84.yelp.com

Make lots of memories and don't forget the joys of life.

Faith and trust in Him,
Albert Nguyen

Get the Party Started!

Summer 2009 has been really good to me. A lot of great friends, food, sports, dancing, and TV.

Friends
Phil is in Texas for the summer and for the first four weeks he was here, I saw him probably 25 out of the possible 28 days. I guess I had to make up for lost time because I didn't have the chance to see him at all last year. I doubt you read this buddy, but have a safe trip back to China and have a great year; hopefully it won't be two years until the next time we run into each other! During the last month or so, I've gotten to stay at Titus's and Andy's, Koller's, Josh's, Phil's, and Timmy's (I even got to crash at Johanna's place before going to the airport the next morning (thanks for being my only reader)). I've seen tons of people this summer and it has been a blast. Summer 2009 is definitely up there in my books.

Food
There is a small Texas town in the middle of nowhere called Lockhart, and it is known as the barbecue capital of the world or something close to that. Anyways, I have eaten at a restaurant called Smitty's Market in Lockhart 4 times in the last 5 weeks--talk about obsession. I will admit that the meat is downright amazing and it puts Saltlicks to shame; however, the one downfall other than the drive is that the meat is not very consistent. One day the prime rib might be the best thing and then the next day it might be the brisket and so forth, so it's hard when you are trying to win a newcomer over. I also have to mention the King Kong nachos that Hao, Timmy, and I shared in San Antonio at a place called Chachos. We all agreed that the dish had close to, if not more than 10,000 calories and it was probably meant for 6 people but boy was it worth it trying to finish the whole thing between just the three of us. Not only was the thing astronomical in size, the quality of the nachos was second to none, there were so many different types of cheeses, sauces, and meats. I am going to recommend these two places to anyone who is in Lockhart or San Antonio. Just be ready to experience some major food comas afterward.

Sports
I've played the most tennis over the past month (4 times) than any other time since when I was on the tennis team in 11th grade. Of course I destroyed Mok 6-1, 6-0 in singles after he foolishly challenged me to a match... you got some work to do son before challenging me again. A few nights after that, Josh and I beat up on the Hsu sisters 6-0, 6-3 in doubles when we visited Angela's new house. Not only did I get to play tennis while I was in Sugar Land, I played some darts at the Chui's residence as well. Let's just say the Mah and Nguyen families were both very proud after we dismantled Timmy and his Dad in team 301 on more than one occasion (in their own home; ouch). Last week when I was visiting Josh in Dallas, a few of us went over to Dshaw's place and we had a little ping pong tournament and it got pretty intense, which is not surprising when you have alphamales together in one room. The final standings are gold medal = Josh, silver medal = me, bronze medal = Dshaw; Phil and Larry unfortunately did not earn a spot on the medal podium, better luck next year suckas! And I am looking very forward to football, basketball, and volleyball on the beach when I visit California (have to take advantage of the weather)!

Dancing
For those who haven't heard, I went on a dancing splurge during the last night at the lake house and I guess the momentum of that night is still going strong. When I visited Houston, a bunch of us went out to a lounge called Sammy's where the band, Spazmatics play their popular 80s music routine every week. I will be honest with you, I was already a little buzzed before we got to the place so apparently when we did finally get there, I left the group behind and rushed to the front of the stage... by myself. Head bopping to the music... by myself. And of course dancing... by myself. Who knew I had it in me? I guess Albert Brennaman is just coming out of his shell. Anyways, I went out on 6th street a couple weeks after that and danced a little bit that night as well. I am mentioning all this because for 24 years or so, I never really went out--I mean I could have counted all of the times on one hand. It is a very rare occurrence to see me out partying. Only if a close friend is visiting from out of town or something of that nature would I pick going out over watching ESPN or Travel Channel on a Friday night. But, I'm just trying to get all this in before law school starts. I can't wait to go out a couple times in LA, Entourage style! We just need to find a movie star, or we can pretend that one of us is one... whichever one is easier.

TV
Speaking of Entourage, Phil got me hooked on this show when I was crashing at his place. I started the pilot episode at around 3am one night and haven't looked back ever since. It is without a doubt my second favorite show on TV, just behind Lost. The characters are hilarious and of course with all the girls, money, and cussing--you know it was made for me. True story, when I was on 6th street the other night, I pretended I was Vincent Chase and was strutting from bar to bar, and I made sure I was walking in the front of the group at all times as if I was the leader. I am awesome.

Misc
Congrats to Andy Yu on getting into the police academy. You've been waiting for awhile now, I'm glad it's all working out for you.
Congrats to Titus, I'm glad that you're happier and that the ratio will be much more acceptable.
Everyone should visit Hao and I in San Antonio; We have Sea World, Fiesta Texas, the Riverwalk, etc. You know you want to.
I will be in California from August 6th through August 19th. Titus and Josh will be joining me during the second weekend, it's going to be an awesome time.
I just saw Timmy for 10 days in Texas, now another 14 days in California... too much or not enough?
8min abs is over for me, it was fun while it lasted gang--the truth of the matter is I found something better
School starts on the 24th, kinda nervous and excited. By the 25th, you will probably hear me say how much I hate it.

Titus told me that I should link all my pages together if I want to be on the first page when I search "Albert Nguyen" on google, so here it goes:
Albert Nguyen Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/alnguyen84
Albert Nguyen Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/alnguyen84
Albert Nguyen LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/alnguyen84
Albert Nguyen Yelp: http://alnguyen84.yelp.com

Make lots of memories and don't forget the joys of life.

Faith and trust in Him,
Albert Nguyen

God is Great; Beer is Good; and People are Crazy

What a month, there are so many things to write about. In my last post, I mentioned something about how the weather was heating up... talk about an understatement. Record high temperatures blanketed all of Texas this past month. Probably one of the worst decisions of my life was when I endured through a full round of golf for 5 hours on a day when the thermometer read 107 degrees.

With that being said, spending July 4th weekend at a lake house was the perfect answer. It was such a great time, I got to spend it with great people and eat good food. The last full day we were there, I wanted to take advantage of it--so, I was literally in the lake for 4-5 hours, showered, ate dinner, and then proceeded to dance on the dock for another 4 hours (at times, even by myself). My inner "Albert Brennamen" came out and I just let loose. The weekend was full of good conversations, lots of joy and laughter, and I even got to play some mahjong. It was awesome getting to hang out with Phil, we've missed you man. I don't know when exactly, but I will visit you in China someday.

Over the last month, I started writing reviews on yelp. I've gone to this website for years now to read up on reviews of restaurants and food, so it was time for me to do my part. I am not a fan of all those long entries that are better suited for short stories, telling people about their journey to the restaurant and things like that. When I go to yelp, I just want to read about the food, the service, and the price. Thus, that is how I will write my reviews... short and sweet. (just find me using my email address: alnguyen84@gmail.com)

I also went to see a lot of movies in June; Transformers, Star Trek, Up, The Hangover, and Public Enemy to name a few. The best summer movie so far has been Star Trek in my opinion. Hopefully, HARRY POTTER will take over that crown when it comes out in a couple weeks. They delayed the release date for 7 months, so it better be worth all that waiting. I'm definitely going to the IMAX for this one.

RIP Michael Jackson. I know this may sound a little weird and overly dramatic, but I was genuinely sad on the day that he passed away. I got a text message from an old friend early that morning and I was pretty surprised by it because we really don't talk anymore. But she knew that when I was growing up, I was completely enamored by Michael Jackson and I guess she wanted to be the one that broke the news to me... and man was I in utter shock. During the first couple hours after I received the text, I had the TV on CNN and was checking every news outlet on the web to see if it was true. When it was finally confirmed, I was in a state of disbelief. I know people say that he was weird--his face, his voice, his actions, his clothes, even his skin color, etc. but I never cared about all the stuff. I just looked at him as a performer--and he was the best that ever did it. He was simply ahead of his time; his music, his dancing, his aura. I challenge anyone to do a biographical research on his life without getting affected by it. On that Friday after he passed, I went to a Michael Jackson tribute concert that was held in downtown Austin. Watching everyone there singing their hearts out and dancing til their legs fell off just made me realize that even though Michael Jackson the person was gone, his legend lives on. Nobody there was crying or sad, there was a smile on everyone's face and that is how I will remember him.

So in the last month, I went on sort of a binge with my physical activities--golf, basketball, volleyball, tennis, bocce ball, softball, football, swimming, running sprints, and other stuff that I can't remember at the moment. If you need someone to join you when you work out or anything, please feel free to call me up!

As far as the next few weeks are concerned, I do not have anything major planned... I will be slowly moving stuff down to San Antonio, spending as much time as I can with friends, and I am going to California in early August.

IF and that is still a big if; the Mavericks manage to re-sign Kidd, pick up Gortat, and trade for Marion, I would consider the summer a success. However, we're not going to know if these transactions/rumors become official for another couple of weeks so we'll see what ends up happening.

For those who want to stalk me even more, follow me on twitter! I love tweeting. (www.twitter.com/alnguyen84)

Make lots of memories and don't forget to appreciate the joys of life.

Faith and trust in Him,
Albert Nguyen

It's Been a Month Already?

That went by way too fast. Fortunately, I actually have quite a few things to write about. Maybe keeping up with this thing won't be too hard after all.

First and foremost, I would like to give props to the Dallas Mavericks. In all honesty, you guys performed better than what the majority expected coming into the year. Let's hope for a good off-season so you guys can reload around Dirk Nowitzki to make a serious run for it next season.

Next, I have officially decided to go to San Antonio for law school. The money that they offered me was just too tempting for me to pass up. Hopefully, I will do really well in my first year so I can have multiple options in regards to staying or transferring to a different school. I will be moving down there sometime in July and will be living with Mr. Hao Liu. So, if anyone needs a place to stay when they go to San Antonio, our place is always open.

Speaking of people crashing at our place, the other day I realized that 14 different people have slept in my bed this year at my apartment in Austin. (I'll buy you lunch if you can name all 14). Titus and I literally have had a visitor during almost every weekend. It's been a great time this year and I'm really going to miss living with him.. even though he gave me a black eye. Last week, we had a special guest stay with us for a few days and we both agree that she was our favorite. We ended up doing every Austin thing I can think of: 219 West happy hour, Flip Happy Crepes, Mozarts coffee house, the capital, kayaking, Mount Bonnell, Amy's Ice Cream, Trudy's, Central Market, Foodheads, Madam Mam's, Urban Outfitters and many more things. It was all very very fun, please come again soon! =]

I want to congratulate Julia and Jason, their wedding is on Saturday, May 23rd. Jason and I were talking the other night and he said weddings are great for friend reunions. So I'm excited to see everyone while we celebrate Julia and Jason's marriage. Also for those of you who don't know, Jason and Chibong challenged Titus and I to a two on two basketball battle. So be on the lookout for that.

I want to wish Johanna good luck in her triathlon this coming Monday. You are a warrior, maybe I'll stop by and cheer you on at the finish line. Andy and I will be doing a 10K in June, I hope I don't cramp up like Lebron James at the end of game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Did you guys see that he was bleeding from his knee, I was so surprised it looked normal, I thought it would be silver like the Terminator or something. That man is not human.

The weather is starting to warm up, time to stay indoors until the sun goes down. I really, truly, genuinely hate summers in Texas.

Make lots of memories and don't forget to appreciate the joys of life. I haven't thought of anything else yet, so I apologize for that. Corny is my thing anyways.

Faith and trust in Him,
Albert Nguyen

Dallas Area Sports: http://alnguyen84sports.blogspot.com/

Let's Do This

Back a few years ago, I used to keep up with a blog (xanga) where I would write about anything and everything that was going on in my life. I am not going to promise that I will update this blog as much as I my old one, but I will try to continually keep up with writing an entry every month or so, that is the goal. To be honest with you, my life is not interesting enough for me to really have a blog--I'm not Gilbert Arenas or Mark Cuban or anyone famous, so why would I even do this? Well, most of it is for me; for memory keepsake. I will include things such as the interesting restaurants I try out, new people I meet, stuff my friends and I do, unique occurrences at work, and everything else that may be worth mentioning.

For those of you who don't know, I am currently living in Austin, but it seems like I am always traveling somewhere or visiting someone so I really am not home that much. I am working part time for The American Cancer Society (3-4 days a week), and it has been a great experience so far. The atmosphere at the office and the people there are amazing, and it makes me happy to know that I am doing my part in helping people.

I took my LSAT's and finished all of my law school applications a few months ago and I've been playing the waiting game ever since. Which school wants me? Which school doesn't want me? As of today, I've heard back from every school I applied to except for two. I got accepted into Loyola Marymount and Santa Clara in California and SMU, Texas Tech, Baylor, and St. Mary's in Texas. The schools that I am still waiting on include the University of Houston and Texas Wesleyan University in Fort worth (The University of Texas said no). Therefore, I have not made any decisions on where I will be during this upcoming fall yet, I'm still waiting on a couple schools and a couple scholarship offers.

Anyways, I don't want to bore the readers (haha) any longer so let me talk about what I did this week. On Monday, Titus and I drove down to San Antonio to meet up with Hao. Hao got us tickets to Game 2 of the Mavericks/Spurs playoff game, so it was pretty much a no-brainer on whether or not we were going to make the trip down or not. Speaking of which, we are going to Game 5 in San Antonio next Tuesday as well. Game 2 was a terrible game for us Mavericks fans, we were blown out of the building and it was over before it began. However, the one thing that I did learn was how friendly the fans in San Antonio are. Trust me, that's not a good thing. When three guys are entering your hometown team's arena sporting all Dallas Mavericks gear, you don't offer them Spurs t-shirts. I mean come on. As for the fans that were there with us in the seats, I was not ridiculed, made fun of, or physically harmed once; nothing was thrown at me and nothing was spilled on me. I thought Spurs fans were supposed to be crazy? I mean, the San Antonio Spurs is the only professional sports franchise in your city right, where's the passion?

We left for Austin right after the game, and we didn't make it back until 1:30 in the morning, which really isn't that bad for a normal night especially if you know about my sometimes wacky sleeping schedule. But this night was different, the next morning I was meeting Jenny at 7 AM to help her at her school (she teaches first grade). I thought I would be much more tired and sleepy on Tuesday while trying to run around with the first graders but surprisingly I had more than enough energy. The first graders at Jenny's elementary school went on a field trip on Tuesday, so that is why I wanted to help her out because you know how kids get during field trips. We went to Aquarena in San Marcos, Texas and it was a great time. We saw all different types of fish in the acquarium, we went on a boat with a glass bottom so people could see things in the water, and we had very interesting bus rides to and from the place. All in all, I am glad that I went and the kids in the class did more for me than I did for them.

Oh yeah, this morning I bought a new laptop. It is the Asus 1000HE, and I saw the deal on fatwallet; it was just too good of a deal to pass up. I'm pretty excited about it because my current laptop has been failing me for the last year or so. I can't wait to finally have a laptop that turns on when I want it to, doesn't burn my skin when I touch it, and isn't as loud as a lawnmower. FYI, do not ever buy the Hewlett Packerd TX1000 series, it's the tablet laptop and it is all show and no go. As a matter of fact, if you are seriously thinking about purchasing anything manufactured by HP, make sure you do a lot of research beforehand because their products are very hit/miss.

Well, that's the first post. Let's hope I keep my promise and not be too lazy. In the meantime, make lots of memories and don't forget to appreciate the joys of life. Yeah, I'll be working on a cooler last line before my next blog. Stay classy San Diego.

Faith and trust in Him,
Albert Nguyen

Dallas Area Sports: http://alnguyen84sports.blogspot.com/
